    ironhead,

First off, thank you for your military service.

I just purchased my 2014 Mirage 3 weeks ago and was given the bad news at the dealership.... I was not eligible for the military rebate. The $500 military rebate DOES NOT include veterans. I read the language right off a print out from Mitsubishi of America (provided to me by the dealer).

You should simply request a $500 lower price based upon your military service. If they truly honor your veteran status, they will accommodate you....regardless of rebates. Otherwise, you are "just another customer" and your service means NOTHING.

    Good luck with your purchase!

You mu7stve went to the dealer I went to out by the airport. Thats where I started my deal. We found the dealer in Medina selling one for 9999 for a bare bones de manual. So since we were already sitting at the dealer in columbus we tried to barter off of that price. Well the guy laughed at me. So I made the trip up to Medina and picked up the car for 11000 after tax and stuff. But the Columbus dealer wouldn't budge after 13000. Sadly the dealer in Medina is closed now. Thank god I travel to bedford heights for work as theres a dealer a few miles away but I feel weird having to go to a different dealer than where I bought it.
Anyways if you see a silver mirage when you're in mansfield its probably me you'll know it by the license plate and the various stickers on the window.

Exclamation Forgot to UPDATE my price regarding BAIT and SWITCH (Military)

*My only "issue" is the dealer used a "Military Personnel BAIT" of $500 rebate to get me in the door. When I got there, I was not eligible because I am a 6 year Army Veteran and NOT current military or retired military. This is a warning to all looking to buy the car. Ensure all rebates apply to your situation BEFORE visiting the dealer!
Roughly 2 weeks after purchasing my car and multiple calls to my dealer, I had to do something.
I found a link to the Ohio Attorney General's PDF about "deceptive advertising tactics".
I printed this PDF, drove to the dealership, met with the sales manager, and after "being nice first, then telling him how upset I was about being deceived as an Army Veteran" I pulled out the PDF.

The manager told me and swore up and down the barely made money on the deal.....yeah right..... so I read 4 separate lines from the Attorney General PDF about how the company, Ricart Automotive, used deceptive tactics which are ILLEGAL according to the Ohio Attorney General. The manager seemed like a deer in the headlights when I read these lines. I caught the dealership (not the manager) in the act of deceiving or lying to consumers ACCORDING TO THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL..... The look on confusion and "I will play dumb to get out of this" came across his face.....

(Mind you now the manager is stuck in an emotional state with no rational argument against my well-thought-out PDF quotes and evidence from the website small print etc.) The manager eventually asked, "What would it take to make this right."

I thought for a moment....realizing tires appear to be difficult to find and mumbled something about a free set of tires. The manager either didn't hear me or didn't care. I then said, "How about you give me $375 refund which is most of the military credit."

TO MY SUPRISE, he reached for what appeared to be a check book and started writing. The man issued me a refund check for $375!

Why am I telling you this? Because dealerships use emotion to sell you and deception to confuse you. Happens every day. I am sure there are honest dealerships, however, I see the silly television ads and paragraphs of fine print. As a consumer, I won the day. You can too! It is my opinion dealerships (or any business for that matter) should not deceive military veterans (or any consumer) in efforts to drive business. Does anybody wonder why some car dealerships get a bad reputation?

This refund brought my purchase price (out the door) to $13,200 for a DE manual with the Bluetooth Option (listed as $295 dealership option). I am happier with this price because I feel I bought the car for $12,900 with a $300 option!

Remember it is possible to negotiation AFTER the deal.
    I did. I got $375 back.
    You can too!

I'm going over there to pick up a part on Monday, and I'll see what they say.

That's because it is. Weasel words from the ad:

Price discounts include all eligible rebates. See Salesperson for details.
So they deducted ALL the possible discounts to get that price, including probably a manufacturer discount. So you only get that figure assuming you also qualify for every one of (examples)... 1) loyalty rebate, 2) military rebate, 3) new graduate rebate, 4) first time carbuyer rebate, 5) snow in July rebate... etc.

I added back all the "standard" weasel stuff and the price is STILL crazy low...??
Should make for some interesting B.S. when I ask them.

I did talk to this dealer a few months ago...they also had a "tornado" rebate. I guess there was a tornado somewhere around there at one time and they had a rebate included that you got only if it affected you...haha. I went with a dealer that had a low internet price listed which they honored with no BS. The Weasel word workers did not get a sale from me. In the wise words of Sweet Brown, "Ain't nobody got time for that"

well...Just purchased a base DS...5 speed, 2015...MSRP $14,000...got a $1200 discount off sticker, plus rebate($1250)..plus loyalty discount($250..plus military discount($500)....so ended up with total slightly under $11000...Delighted with that price...especially with all the standard features. Although I live in Michigan, I purchased the car in Chicago..as they offered much better deals
