That's what I thought too, or it was possibly a rental car (being close to the airport). However, this one had paper dealer plates from South Coast Mitsubishi, which in California meant that it was recently purchased by a private owner. It was also a young couple riding around in it. As the Mirage ad states "a small car for a big life!"

There was a press release back in October that Avis was renting out Mirages:

I rent cars typically two times a month (it's one of my simple pleasures to try something new and different, plus it keeps wear and tear off the Focus) and even write a blog about the cars: roorentalcarreviews.com. Each time I rent from various agencies, I scour the lot for a Mirage and there's never been a single one. It's usually a Spark, Sonic, Fiesta, Versa, Yaris, 2, Accent, or Rio that's residing in the economy car section. It's inevitable that Mirages will eventually be there

spork (12-10-2017)
When I first bought my 2015 Mirage in November of 2014, I had the only one.
Now, I can't throw a rock without hitting two of them. They're very popular where I live, I think the local dealer (which is in the middle of nowhere, really) said they sell 50+ of them a month. But so far, they've only sold ONE purple G4 5 speed.
All hail Sparky!
How many purple G4 5-speeds do you suppose are out there? Can't be that many. Ol' Sparky might be one of a kind.
