Since I have had the car I have left the antenna off as someone will steal it if left on. Well,it is pouring out now. Will rain get into it and damage anything? Thanks

I believe the antenna is just a solid lead that screws into the female-threaded end of another solid lead on the car side as an extension, so no I don't think it will damage anything to leave it off in the weather. You might try one of those antenna caps that are flat and have the thread on the bottom just to protect the threads on the car side from gunk and oxidation...or a dab of silicone if you're cheap lol

If anything, you might get a bit of corrosion on those threads from water soaking it in there. I've removed mine a time or two. Do you really believe someone would steal it? I'm not doubting you. I'm just in awe that anyone would bother stealing something of so little value.

Unfortunately yes. Waiting for my plate to be finished made and we are so the hell out of here. I check it about every two to three hours as well. We have crackheads who have set empty units on fire here. There is no where you can live here and your car or anything will be safe. My job at a mall as a security guard here ended as everyone has now quit as we wear bullet resistant vests because we were shot at multiple times in the last year and cars are vandalized big time not just at the mall but everywhere and car theft is a serious issue here.Police have 10+ officers quitting a month and we are 1200 officers short as I was told by one of them that volunteered at the mall on weekends.
I really wish this car came with at least a factory alarm. I won't put a third party alarm on as I read too many horror stories about issues down the road. But yes someone will take that antenna in a heartbeat.

The antenna part that screws off has a male plug in the middle and what appears to be a piece of copper wire across the plug(?) I cant get up and see inside the female(base on car) as it is up too high and pictures do not show anything as it is deepish.
I will call the dealer Tuesday and see what they say.Plate is in progress and counting down the days....

Just don't wire it into the car fully. Hook up the sensors and siren, skip the ignition deactivation side of it.
They also sell amplified antennas that you stick into your cars glass. They work.good enough. If you have a hatch stick it right tight to the top of the hatch window below the little wing. Chances of someone seeing it are pretty low especially if you left the dummy base on top.
Just got off the phone with the dealer. He said it is a screw on.There is nothing there to damage or anywhere for the water to go.I am still gonna put a rubber end cap on it though .
I won't say much about the crime situation where you are other than I knew someone there who kept me informed what they faced every day. They moved 3 years so I imagine what they told me is only worse.
I just remembered if you have some dielectric grease smear that on the threads and contact point. there will be no corrosion.
